About us

The Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CIAM) is a strategic center at the the School of Engineering Sciences at KTH with an initial 5 year funding from the Swedish Foundation of Strategic Research. CIAM has members from the Department of Mathematics (the divisions mathematics, mathematical statistics, and optimization and systems theory) at the School of Engineering Sciences as well as members from Numerical Analysis, Theoretical Computer Science, and Computional Biology at the School of Computer Sciences and Communication. CIAM has access to a very broad research competence in mathematics and computational sciences with world leading expertise in core mathematical areas. The activities at CIAM are dedicated to bringing to the fore the applicable aspects of contemporary mathematics, in which pure mathematics represented by the core areas provides the foundation and necessary prerequisite for the applied sciences.
